I don’t know about you, but keeping my home clean, organized and decluttered while raising a bunch of kids takes considerable effort. Keeping life simple also seems to be a bit of a struggle at times. So I was really inspired by these two great little books.
I bought How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House’s Dirty Little Secrets by Dana White on a whim when the Kindle version was on sale. I ended up really loving it! The author comes across as very down-to-earth, relatable, and funny (but not funny in an annoying way). Her guidance about how to keep your house basically clean seems doable and her manageable approach to house-cleaning is like a breath of fresh air. She understands and has lived through all the basic and regular challenges that normal moms face as they try to keep their homes clean. It was a fairly quick read too.
The Cozy Life: Rediscover the Joy of the Simple Things Through the Danish Concept of Hygge by Pia Edberg is a very short book that gives the basics of the Danish idea of hygge. I’d heard of hygge before but I had no idea what is was. It’s all about making your life and home simpler, more centered, more authentic and cozy. This little book was so inspiring and I’m going to look for more books about this subject.
