Miss Jane: A Novel by Brad Watson

This book.  Have you heard of it?  I hadn’t, but it was January’s pick for an online book group that I participate in.  I loved, loved , loved Miss Jane.  It’s fiction, but the story is based on Brad Watson’s great aunt who lived in the early 1900s.  Miss Jane Chisolm is born to a farming family in Mississippi with a genital birth defect that causes many difficulties for her.  Despite those difficulties, Jane grows to be a strong and beautiful woman.  The story is inspiring and just so lovely.

Brad Watson is such a good writer, I felt like I was reading a classic novel.  After you read this book, go here to read a great interview with him.  You can also read more about him and his books on his website.  Happy reading!
